Eric Foster-Whiddon

Eric Foster-Whiddon – Owner, General Manager

Eric and his wife Vanessa are the owners of Beans & Strings.  They have four children – Lexie, Zoe, Holton & Karis. Eric began playing guitar and writing music at the age of sixteen. After graduating from the School of Christian  Ministries at Emmanuel College, Eric served for eight years in full-time ministry, primarily as a youth pastor. Eric began teaching guitar, bass and drums in 2001 during his first youth ministry tenure in order to develop relationships with the teens in his church. Eric has performed his original music in several bands, including Joshua Generation, Widow June, Pedestrian, Veterans Radio, EFW & The Summer Associate, Good Boy Elvis, Blue is a Sound and currently Best Cassette. Eric teaches at the downtown Moultrie location. However, due to his business responsibilities, Eric is no longer taking new students.

Vanessa Foster-Whiddon

Vanessa Foster-Whiddon – Owner, General Manager

Vanessa and her husband, Eric, are the owners of Beans & Strings. A mother of four, yoga instructor, half of a dynamic entrepreneur marriage and coffee counter socialite, Vanessa is a free-spirit who is always on the go! A native of Colquitt County, Vanessa grew up in Norman Park and studied social work at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. As a young adult, she served for several years on staff at her home church as the youth director, during which time she met Eric, who was on staff at a neighboring church as youth pastor. Most of their young-love dates revolved around a favorite coffee shop and many, many youth ministry events had coffee shop themes. During their second youth ministry appointment, Vanessa and Eric opened an espresso bar in their church’s youth worship center and Vanessa took her first foray into recruiting, training and leading a barista staff. In the early years of Beans & Strings, Vanessa provided a constant smile and warm “Hello!” behind the counter as the lead barista for the store. These days, Vanessa recruits, trains and oversees the barista teams at all locations… when she’s not getting bendy at Untangled Yoga or running kids back and forth from after school activities!

Sarah Shundich

Sarah Shundich – Beans Section Manager (Downtown)

Section Manager (Beans) at the downtown Moultrie location, Sarah found her way to our quaint little coffee shop as a transplant from Cashiers, NC. After meeting Sarah as a regular customer (spiced chai latte, please!), Eric and Vanessa learned that she worked in North Carolina as a barista… and recruited her to the Beans & Strings team. Sarah immediately began to assist Vanessa with purchasing, inventory management, coffee shop organization, tuition collections and more, causing a quick rise onto the management team. Sarah’s fun and bubbly personality endears her to customers and her drinks are ROCKIN’! Sarah is a staple of the downtown Moultrie location, loves tattoos, is a raving fan of “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” her favorite holiday is Halloween, and somehow she manages to get more gifts from customers than Eric! She must be doing something right…

Laveta Edwards – Beans Section Manager (Colquitt Regional)

Laveta graduated high school in Desoto, TX right outside of Dallas. She lived in Waycross, GA for a few years, and her job at that time brought her to Moultrie in 2009. She has two daughters, Delaysha Edwards and Dejah Kennedy. Laveta has a degree in Administrative Office Technology and is currently pursing a degree in Early Childhood Education. She enjoys ministry and dancing. Her tastes in music range from Aerosmith to Michael Jackson, from Etta James to Celine Dion, Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp, Kari Jobe, and Kirk Franklin. Her favorite drink at Beans is the Bounce Back protein shake. (If there were fewer calories in it, the Java Chip Frosty Bean with whipped cream and drizzle would win, hands-down!) She has worked for Ameris Bank, United Way, Office of Child Support Services, and is  currently on staff at Heritage Church in Moultrie as Kids Team Life Coordinator. Interesting factoid about Laveta: she would love to be in a “Grease” Musical!  Also, she has visited Jamaica on a mission trip with her church to share Vacation Bible School with the kids.
