JUDGING CRITERIA

You can download the judging criteria here.

CONTENT QUALITY STANDARDS

It is very important that all competitors are aware that Battle of the Bands is a part of Moultrie’s Spring Fling Festival, which is a family-friendly event. Whatever is said or sung from the Battle stage reflects directly on the City of Moultrie, the Downtown Moultrie Association, Beans and Strings LLC, and the businesses and individuals who have worked to make this event possible. Lyrics or from-stage communication cannot include:

  • inappropriate language (including vulgarity or racial references)
  • sexual content
  • glamorization of drug or alcohol abuse
  • irreverent references to God or spiritual things

We understand that lots of musicians and rock songs have a “sex, drugs and rock & roll” attitude; however, competitors will only have two songs to perform, so it shouldn’t be too hard to pick ones that meet the above stated standards. If a great song has one word or line that doesn’t meet the standards, simply do a “radio edit.” Any competitor who fails to meet these standards will be disqualified from the competition immediately. If you’re mid-song, that means your mic is cut off and you’re done. Yep, we’re serious about this.
